What is a controlled substance?

A controlled substance is one or more items that are listed in Title 21 of the U.S. Code, which restricts the access of civilians, non-physicians to chemicals that can injure or kill. That’s their view. Marijuana, oddly, is on that same list. So any controlled substance is one that’s regulated by the federal government, that limited access, and if you have those drugs in your possession, you can be charged with not only a federal crime, but a state crime, as well. So you need to educate yourself about what controlled substances are. Most of us know already what those are and you should stay away from them, because they can land you in jail for an extended periods of time. And the quantity and in fact the quality of the controlled substance that you have on your person can also determine how long you’re likely to spend in prison if you’re convicted of such a crime.
