Do I need an attorney to represent me even if I am innocent?

Most the time the answer to the question is no. However the only way you can assure yourself that you don’t need a lawyer is to talk to a competent lawyer who can look at the facts and circumstances surrounding your contact with law enforcement and tell you whether or not you need to be represented. One of the problems with not being represented is that anything you say can be used against you. What I say about you can’t be used against you and that is a unique protection that can only be provided by lawyers.
